Gotta love Books

Friday, February 23, 2018

I can remember being a little girl and loving the library. The smell of the books, the walls full of possibilities inside each book, coffee table books, novels, love them all.
(I really should write more posts about books).Wanted to share a few "book" themed items with you.

There is a book scented candle by Homesick. It has notes of cedar-sandlewood-vanilla. A great shop in Pt Pleasant, Deena's, stocks it. Smells like a leather bound book.

I found these book flower holders in Hobby Lobby, when we were planning my daughter's bridal shower, and used them as accents around the venue. I have a few I can sell to anyone. Lol

If your saw my IG post on displaying your books,I had forgotten about this great coffee table book, that has bright ,colorful photos and how-to's for you for dessert displays. Amy Atlas

One of my favorite places to purchase books is in town on Main Street in Manasquan, Booktowne
They are very helpful and despite the small shop they carry a wide variety of selections for everyone.

The photo I posted on IG is a simple example of how to display your books to see them and enjoy them or share with guests. Have them out so you remember what you have and enjoy them.

Of course, a great bookcase is a good idea for any room. This one is a white beauty. A blog I follow has this in her home. Living with landyn. Pure simple white is always smooth to the eye. Books can be wrapped in white to keep a uniform look.
Finally, this bookcase is organized with books according to colors. Again, either the spines of the books are colored or the books are wrapped in colored paper.
Enjoy, now go read a book or style a shelf. Xoxo

Nordstrom winter sale going on now

Here are my pics for the winter sale.
Love a great pillow and throws have my heart. These are great sale prices
The totes I listed are so pretty. Check out All saints purses if you haven't heard of them. I have a tote and it's so soft, real leather, pretty colors and shapes.

Come on in

Monday, February 12, 2018

I posted on my Instagram last week a picture of my entryway. Got me thinking about what you should want it to feel like when guests enter your home or when you and your family come home each day. You want to feel welcomed by the space, whether its a small space or a large area. Doesn't matter, just should have a space that says, Come on in! Whatever your budget is, there is a way to achieve it. Below are a few examples from blogs and websites I enjoy to look at for inspiration.
My entryway gets a change up depending on the season, and my mood, lol. I took a slim table from another room, and added a few lanterns and faux candles. In the center I added alittle greenery and a cute sign I found at Marshall's. It's a cute spot to drop your keys and take a quick look in the mirror.

Enjoy these photos from the list of blogs and sites.

Pulled pork recipe- What's Gaby cookin

Monday, February 5, 2018

As promised, I am posting the What's gabby cookin pulled pork recipe.
It is a slow cooker recipe so I was alittle cautious about using my crockpot on super bowl Sunday?!
All you This Is Us fans know what I mean. Lol
Anyway, I made it in the morning and by the time I was ready to serve the sandwiched, the pork was like butter. Great for any weeknight meal or get together.
Here is the recipe:
Medium onion chopped
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup tomato paste
2 tbsp paprika
2 tbsp worstershire sauce
3 tsp salt
1 1/4 tsp black pepper
2.5 lb pork butt
12 slider buns
Put all ingredients besides the pork n the buns in the crock pot and mix with a spoon
Cut my he pork into 2 pieces and add to the pot.
Set on low for 8 hours
When you remove the meat, set on a cutting board and shred with 2 forks. It really fell apart nicely and was perfect to sit on the buns.  Top with round pickles and slices of red onions if you like. I also love served some of them with coleslaw I made with just a prepared bag of coleslaw and added alittle pepper and apple idea vinegar and tossed it was n a fry pan for a few minutes.
Gay has some great recipes. Check her out at #whatsgabycookin
Enjoy!

Super bowl party food

Saturday, February 3, 2018

Super bowl is a day away. I'm making a few great dishes I found on some blogs I love to follow.
I will post the recipes along with photos after I make them. You can make them for any gathering you have not just super bowl.
Here is the recipe for an easy Taco ring you can customize as you like with salsa and tomatoes and lettuce on the side.
I had this at a party at a friend's home years ago. Thanks Vicki!
2 cans crescent rolls. I only buy Pillsbury. Doesn't stick or rip.
1 lb of ground beef or ground turkey
1/2 can to a whole can of retried beans
1 package taco seasoning mix
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Cook and drain the beef or turkey meat
Arrange crescent rolls in a starburst pattern on a stone or cookie sheet
In a bowl combine cooked meat/turkey, retried beans( enough to hold meat together)
Spoon mixture onto crescent rolls and sprinkle cheese along the top. Gold points over the filling and tuck under the base.
Bake at 375 for 20-35 min or until golden brown
Serve with salsa, lettuce and tomatoes, to your taste.
Enjoy!
